4代目となる現在の京都駅舎はこの思想の
元で故原広司氏により設計され、
平成7年に完成した。
奇しくも私が初めて京都を訪れたのも
この年だ。修学旅行で京都から東京まで
の移動のため利用したはずなのだが、
当時の駅での記憶はほとんどない。
それから30年弱が経過して令和の時代
となり、この門には当時の20倍以上の
外国人が訪れるようになった。
地域の生活者や遠方、或いは異国からの
訪問者など門を潜り千年の都に往来する
人々と、その人らを招き入れるかの
ように優しく照らす光に魅了され、
僅か数日ではあるが
旅の合間でここを撮影した。
今度はしっかりと記憶に
定着できるように。

The current Kyoto Station, the fourth generation, was designed by the late Hiroshi Hara based on this concept, and built in 1995.
Coincidentally, it was also the year I first visited Kyoto.I used the station to travel from Kyoto to Tokyo on a school excursion. However, I have almost no memory of the station at that time.
Less than 30 years later, in the era of 2025, this gate is now visited by more than 20 times as many foreigners as it was then.
I was fascinated by the people who came and went through the gate, including local residents and visitors from faraway places and foreign countries,
and by the light that gently illuminated the gate as if inviting them in. I photographed this place for a few days.
I hope to remember it well this time.
